Our Unique Service

We recognise that parents/carers are the most important and knowledgeable person in their child’s lives and work in close partnership to ensure individual needs and interests are met.

With this in mind, we ask all parents of children attending the nursery to complete a personal summary and we utilise this information in creating a personal routine for your child.

Each area of the Nursery has a dedicated, highly qualified team, many of whom have been with us for over 20 years. The team is supported by our own educational advisor and trainer.

We offer a broad, balanced and purposeful curriculum specifically tailored to individual ages and stages, linked to Government guidelines set for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The Foundation Stage covers the care and education of all children from birth to 5 years of age, and all learn through a wide variety of activities and play opportunities. The EYFS covers seven areas of learning, these being: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language; Physical Development; Mathematics; Literacy; Understanding the World; Expressive arts and design.

The first three areas are viewed as being of particular importance to our youngest children, with a gradual move towards a more equal balance across all seven learning areas as your child progresses through the Nursery. We organise each child’s day around a balance of child initiated and adult planned activities, with all children working towards individual and personalised targets.

Our dedicated Pre School Unit prepares children for the forthcoming transitions in their lives and we have established close links with all local infant and primary schools.  During the summer term these links are developed further through visits to the school and explore the local environment. Whilst children to continue to learn through play we ensure they are developing the necessary skills and attitudes to aid a smooth transition into the school of your choice.

In addition to the above, each child is assigned a key person who works closely with you and your child, planning appropriate and fun activities, contributing to a personal learning journey of your child’s time at the Nursery which you can treasure for many years to come. These are available to view and contribute to whenever you wish. All parents of babies, toddlers and preschool children receive a termly update outlining their achievements and the next steps, as well as suggestions of ideas to extend learning at home. During the time in the downstairs room, we will complete a more detailed check of your child’s learning and development close to their second birthday.  This is a statutory requirement of the EYFS and we fully involve parents in this process.
